Session 44 Summary

  1. The fight resolves, and The Cinderlings are beaten back! Barely...
    1. Fena is worried that The Cinderlings will come back, so she urges them to get away, but hands them her business card (which has tarot and psychic hand symbols on it) if they would like to reach her.
    2. Shadow and Zo are severely beaten, and everyone is sapped of magical power.
    3. The Captains make a break for the Tide's End Ferry building, narrowly avoiding groups of Cinderlings on the prowl.
  2. They board a ferry, and as they depart, an elf in a long coat approaches them
    1. His name is Detective Avari Telren, and he invites them for a chat, maybe over drinks.
    2. The party is in pretty dire shape, so they ask to put it off.
    3. He gives them his business card and lets them be.
  3. The captains arrive at Un'theaped Market and go wild for shopping!
    1. They all get patched up at the First Aid station at 4 GP for a 1d8+2 health boost
      1. It's pharmacological and cannot be stacked multiple times like health potions.
    2. Pucc buys an Energy Sword, Long and 6 degraded batteries
    3. Shadow buys a few health potions
    4. Ari buys some boom-boom arrows and looks for armor.
  4. As the captains round out the session, Shadow receives a text message from his brother, but he doesn't respond, and doesn't share it with the others.

Session 43 Summary

  1. The Captains interrogate the captured thug, and he drops a sinister name... The Prince of Ashes
    1. Pekk recognizes the name from his days raving, and it was bad back then, and he's afraid of what it means now.
    2. The thug is pretty snarky, even beat up as he is, and as he's about to threaten them more, Ari puts an arrow through his head.
  2. While discussing it with the team, Ari recognizes the name from what the Laguin have told her.
    1. The Prince of Ashes is a half-fiend leader of a powerful gang, known as The Cinderlings, in Tide's End
    2. They brand themselves to show loyalty and rank, with the first brand being in the shape of a ball of fire.
    3. The guy they killed was covered in brands.
  3. The captains are a little beat up from the last fight, so they find a place to hanker down for a breather before moving on.
  4. They attempt to sneak across Tide's End following Pekk, but after a while, they spot someone tailing them from the roofs.
    1. Pucc casts Vicious Mockery, deals full damage, and the guy stumbles back and falls off the roof.
  5. They finally reach Defromora's Apartment, and find it torched.
    1. Ari goes on a roof to be lookout
    2. Everyone else goes inside to search for clues.
      1. Shadow determines that there's no body in the wreckage.
      2. Zo finds a couple bills addressed to Defromora and burned photographs with Defromora in them.
      3. Pucc determines that there wasn't a struggle, as there's no residual blood or anything else like that.
      4. Gyrnst finds a journal, tucked at the very back and beneath a book shelf, mostly unharmed
        1. A quick glance through it shows that it's a personal diary with names of people and places Defromora has been.
    3. Ari spots a nosy old woman, who tells her that Defromora wasn't home when the attack happened
      1. It was lead by a bunch of pirates (so she says, they looked just like the ones on ReelTok), with a Sahuagin leading them, and the building was burned down two weeks ago.
      2. While at first they thought this was the work of The Cinderlings, the team realizes this was probably the same sahuagin and crew, Saskan and The Stray Dogs, who they killed on the Bonanny Islands.
  6. While talking with Fena, they are approached by 5 more Cinderlings, who demand they come with them to meet The Prince of Ashes.
    1. Ari says fuck that, and shoots at them; fight begins!
  7. Fight!
    1. This is a tough fight; The Captains are depleted of magic, and already somewhat wounded.
    2. However, luck has been on their side, and a number of strong blows have wounded the assailants
    3. Shadow took a huge hit from a heavy mace, and was stunned for one round!
      1. Gyrnst and Pucc rushed out to help, Zo using her last spell to light up one of the thugs, and Ari raining arrows down from above.
    4. In the final round of the session, Gyrnst compelled a duel with the Cinderling who wounded Shadow (on the map, he's marked with dotted lines).
      1. This means they cannot attack anyone else (except with Disadvantage) and the thug can't move away from Gyrnst
  8. To be continued...

Session 42 Summary

  1. The Captains decide to leave Thero on the ship with Skavin
    1. He's mostly recovered, still a little beat up, but Gyrnst and Pucc have healed him a little.
  2. Where is everyone?
    1. Skavin is on the ship, managing repairs.
    2. Josh is going back and forth from shore to ship, but staying relatively close by.
    3. Dee-HD has gone off without a word, presumably to do ReelTokker things.
    4. Pucc called Pekk to see if he was available to take them down to Tide's End, but he said he was meeting up with some local friends.
      1. If they don't show, or if things wrap up, he can meet up with them and take them around the district.
  3. The walk to Tide's End
    1. As The Captains trace their way around Corellon's Crown, they leave the industrial/warehouse/shipping area of Beleg Andorie Harbor and enter more suburban-type neighborhoods.
      1. The homes are built into walls, around trees, and the roads bend and wind their way around.
      2. Lots of little shops, and it feels like each street has its own feeling.
      3. In the Harbor and these neighborhoods, there's a broader sapient diversity of humans, elves, dwarves, and other Covenant species.
    2. They pass through the high-district of Gil-Estelaico.
      1. Beautiful sweeping mansions, homes, ornate carvings; fancy schmantzy!
        1. The streets are populated almost entirely by elves; only interspersed are people of other species, and they carry equal airs of wealth.
      2. Zo can't help herself but live-stream and gawk at the lavish expense.
        1. As she's filming, someone catches her eye; a middle aged half-elf, pot belly, in blue overalls, who looks exactly like Pucc and Pekk, aged 40 or 50 years.
        2. Zo calls Pucc over, and he goes to introduce himself.
      3. The half-elf's name is Paqelamir, and he's a nice man, and after some discussion of the coincidence, invites them over for dinner and drinks with his wife.
        1. Pucc notices a company tag on the clothes for a company called Microlutions Industries.
    3. They go through another suburban district, and Pekk sends them a text that he's on the way over.
      1. As The Captains approach Tide's End with Pekk, they notice the more graffiti, dilapidation, and waste and debris on the streets
      2. Pekk tells them about the raves he used to go to in Tide's End end back in the day and what a blast he had, but The Captains are on uneasy.
        1. Everyone feels on edge; Gyrnst and Shadow are picking up on the furtive looks people are shooting them, and Ari sees movement out of the corner of her eye, people darting over roofs.
  4. Confrontation in Tide's End
    1. A big dwarf steps out from around the corner as they approach, and tries to extort The Captains. They're having none of that, and Pucc Viciously Mocks the highwayman, and the fight is on!
      1. Goons step out from the shadows, surrounding and outnumbering The Captains, but they're ill-prepared; try as they might, they can't land a hit.
    2. The Captains are on fire; landing hit after hit, they quickly decimate and demoralize the would-be robbers.
      1. Zo deals massive blows with her Shillelagh
      2. Shadow strikes hard at one of the big lads, cutting arteries and dealing heavy damage.
      3. Gyrnst fells two with critical hits!
      4. Ari cuts down one of the rookies
      5. Pucc tries to use the Cube of Force to bisect the guy who stopped them, but traps him the cube with him (disrupting the inhabitants of the houses on either side).
      6. Pekk hides, then gets excited by the sound the Cube of Force makes makes, and takes out a little recorder to capture it for his music.
    3. Pucc tells the guy to look around, that he is alone, and he should surrender.
      1. As the bandit mulls it over, Shadow lances him through the belly with his pneumatic barbed speargun, yanking him towards them.
    4. Of the eight assailants, four of them flee, and The Captains prepare to interrogate the captured bandit to learn his motives...

Session 41 Summary

  1. Fight!
    1. The water genasi realizes that Ari isn't dead yet, and makes her escape, leaving behind her sea elf companion.
    2. The Captains proceed to beat down on the sea elf and are able to shoot the water genasi a few times, but she's able to escape by climbing over a wall.
    3. Ari realizes she was poisoned, and there is a brief panic and flurry of healing spells to keep her alive while the poison runs it course.
  2. Interrogation and torture ensues
    1. The barkeep initially acts like she didn't just witness a big fight, but after some "encouragement" from Pucc and Gyrnst, reveals that she knows the sea elf as Thero, a local fixer, and has never see the water genasi before.
    2. The Captains drag Thero to their ship, ducking past the marine technician discussing boat repair with Skavin and strap him down, using the threat of and actual violence to make him talk.
  3. Thero spills the beans
    1. J'tak is dead, and there are power struggles and chaos among the Eldrid
    2. Kaelvarr is Ari's half brother, and wants to solidify his claim to power
    3. Kaelvarr hired Thero to take care of Ari, so he hired Brynja
      1. Pure dumb luck put them all at the same bar on the same day
    4. Ari tried to call Kaelvarr from Thero's phone, but it was declined, and after revealing she was Kaelvarr's sister, they lost communication with him.
    5. Thero also offered to look over the Vengema Rankora blackbook from The Golden Goat.
  4. Next steps
    1. Ari knows there are both Laguin and Eldrid chapters in the city, but a larger Laguin presence than Eldrid
    2. Ari asks her girlfriend/attorney Haramosh whether to kill Thero, and she says probably don't do it
    3. Brynja is still out there, and The Captains can't help but feel like they're being hunted...

    2. Swol tries to play it off with his guests, but Zo approaches in an attempt to distract and interrupt with her ASMR ReelTok performance, but ends up fumbling with her things and falls over and farts a little.

      1. Two nat twenties! Two of them!
    4. Outside, Francesca digs through Swol's things.
      1. She takes Swol's ID for the Looming Vessel Company, a blank bank promissory note, and an offworld credit chip.

    2. Additionally, the electric engines were damaged, and can only safely run at half-pace.
      1. e.g., 7 days to Corellon's Crater instead of 3
